The Jacksonville Jaguars went back and forth in a riveting game between them and the New York Jets, another disappointing team this season. The Jaguars were on the losing end of the score sheet but at this point in the season, fans aren't too mad about that.
At 3-11, the Jaguars are in a great position to get a top-five draft pick, assuming they continue to lose out for the rest of the season. That being said, the coaches and players aren't trying to tank because their jobs are on the line so losing out isn't a guarantee even for a bad team like the Jags.
If the season ended today, where would the Jaguars be picking in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Jaguars would hold the fourth overall pick in 2025 NFL Draft after Week 15
While Jacksonville wouldn't hold a top-three pick, they'd be selecting fourth overall, according to Tankathon. Jags fans are used to seeing the team have high picks in the draft considering they held back-to-back number-one picks in 2021 and 2022, which netted them Trevor Lawrence and Travon Walker.
The last time the Jaguars held the fourth overall pick was in 2017 when they took LSU's Leonard Fournette so it hasn't been that long since this was a pick they had in the draft. The hope is that the teams with worse records than them (the Giants, Raiders, and Panthers) win more games while the Jaguars continue to lose.
This would give Jacksonville a better chance at moving up and while they won't be taking a quarterback if they get a better pick, a team would probably trade with them, giving them more draft capital and a chance to help this team improve in 2025 and beyond.
The Jets, who won the game against Jacksonville on Sunday, moved to having the eighth overall pick so it shows just how big the difference is between winning and losing at this point in the season. If the Jaguars can't make the playoffs, then getting a high draft pick is the next best thing.
