One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars in recent days has been their ongoing search for a general manager. They'll be wrapping things up soon. Heck, they might've already done it by the time you're reading this. Something that's stood out in the process is that the Jags are taking pictures of the candidates once they finish the interview for the job. This led to a hilarious exchange between vice president of football operations Tony Boselli and former teammate Tom McManus.
As Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports noted, it's highly unusual for teams to share real-time pictures of their interview process, but that's what Jacksonville has been doing.
First time I’ve seen a team use what’s essentially a real-time photo from the interview in its announcement https://t.co/McWI0Rr18k

Here's another snap after the Jaguars concluded their in-person interview with Ian Cunningham.

Usually, teams will post a picture with a caption such as completed, noted, when they hire or sign a player. Here's the one the Jaguars used when Liam Coen became the head coach.

Circling back to the real-live photos, you can see that Boselli is in both. McManus noticed and shared a hilarious theory about it.
"I love the pictures of Tony escorting the GM candidates out after their interviews. "Hey man, just pretend the camera isn't there and make sure you look happy. Or I'll throw you through the wall." Lol. LFG Jags. Pick a GM for crying out loud. We ready," McManus said.
Boselli caught wind of Mcmanus posted and responded with the laughing emoji:

Someone later mentioned that the whole thing was weird but McManus made it clear that it wasn't that serious, noting that it was all marketing and found the situation funny.
I wasn't looking at it like that my man. It's all marketing. And it's all good. Just think it's funny at the same time. Hope all is good. https://t.co/mCFWhukfae

The finalists for the job are interim Ethan Waugh, the aforementioned Cuningham, 49ers director/scouting football operations Josh Williams, Rams director of scouting strategy James Gladstone, and Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan.
In case you missed it:
The Jaguars should be thrilled they'll soon hire a general manager
Tony Boselli is the only Jaguars player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall-of-Fame. Not long ago, he was hired as the EVP and has been helping the team with their search for a general manager. He won't be picking players or coaching them. Instead, the former All-Pro left tackle will offer suggestions and will serve as a link between ownership, the head coach, and the front office.
Tom McManus happened to be teammates with Boselli. He was a linebacker who mostly played on special teams in the late 1990s. He's routinely been vocal about the Jags' struggles, mincing no words along the way.
All things considered, it's refreshing to see Boselli take things in stride and have a good laugh. After all, it's surely a taxing two months for the Jaguars, and that's without thinking about the disappointing end to the 2024 season. They surely want to wrap things up, finish assembling their front office, and turn their attention to free agency and the draft.
