The Jacksonville Jaguars have been on a hot streak lately, and faced a divisional foe that could have put an end to their hopes of being AFC South champions. The Jags needed to defeat the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17, and on the surface, it looked like it should have been an easy game.

After all, Indy has been struggling, with a collapse that is near-legendary; at the beginning of the season, the Colts were considered one of the best teams in the league. Now, they're facing a setback so major that it'll keep them struggling for years.

Still, the game ended up being much closer than any Jacksonville fan would have liked. The Jaguars ended up victorious at 23-17, and there is a lot for fans to be upset about. The Jags should have run away with this game, but a win is a win... and there is at least one thing to be excited about.

Trevor Lawrence’s statement performance gave Jaguars fans even more to celebrate

Though he had to deal with tons of injuries, including on the offensive line, Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence managed to overcome it all and lead his team to a win. Although he was dealing with much more pressure than in recent weeks and was sacked twice, he was still able to put out a seriously impressive performance.

Despite facing the blitz over and over again, Lawrence was able to keep his cool and make big plays, both with his arm and with his legs. He became just the second quarterback ever to throw for 25 touchdowns and rush for eight or more since 2021.

Lawrence is steadily proving that he isn't just one of the best QBs in Jaguars history, but one of the best in the league overall. Of course, his Week 17 performance wasn't the best fans have seen from him this season, but he was also dealing with a lot of dropped passes, blitzes, and other issues from his supporting cast.

Yet he still managed to show that he was capable even under less-than-stellar circumstances. Lawrence racked up 263 passing yards, as well as 26 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. While the Jags had a strong performance on defense and from Travis Etienne, Lawrence ultimately exited Week 17 with another standout performance that proves Jacksonville was right to invest in him as the future of the franchise.
