Quarterback Trevor Lawrence continues his recovery from shoulder surgery. Along the way, he began to wear a sleeve. His choice of gear recently turned heads during mandatory minicamp. However, the Jacksonville Jaguars are unfazed by his new look. In fact, head coach Liam Coen says that there's nothing to be worried about.
Lawrence was spotted wearing a sleeve on Day 1 of mandatory camp. Coen says that the fifth-year quarterback had plenty of work one week prior, but it's not a reason for concern, pointing out that it helps keep his arm warm.
"No, I think you just had a little bit of just general soreness," Coen told the press corps when asked about the sleeve. "We threw a lot of balls, kind of last week, and really leaned up into, he feels good. He said it wasn't really an issue. It's more, sometimes when you just have something to keep it warm just helps any type of thrower. So I think that was more just maintenance than it is anything that's really bothering him."
Although it appears to be a non-issue, Lawrence's new look picked up enough steam on social media that a handful of beat writers had to shut down the narrative that he was hurt. For instance, here's John Shipley of Sports Illustrated pointing out that the former Clemson Tiger is wearing a sleeve, not a sling.

And here's Demetrius Harvey of Florida Times-Union pointing out that Lawrence has been wearking the sleeve since Organized Team Activities.
To be clear, Trevor Lawrence was also wearing a sleeve last Thursday (6/5).

The Jaguars are pleased with Trevor Lawrence's progress in his recovery thus far
The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't fretting over Trevor Lawrence's decision to wear a sleeve. That said, it's easy to understand why fans could get fidgety. After all, he suffered an AC sprain and underwent surgery to repair it. And because the 2025 season figures to be a critical one for him, any potential setback will be under scrutiny.
This is probably why the sleeve caught attention to begin with. Having said that, the Knoxville, Tennessee native hasn't shown any signs of being hurt. In fact, all signs point to him making strides.
Aside from the early days of OTAs, Lawrence has been sharp and has been working on his rapport with Brian Thomas Jr., Dyami Brown, and Travis Hunter. On day one of mandatory minicamp, he had a couple of touchdown passes, one of them to Thomas. He also threw another dime to tight end Johnny Mundt, according to Mia O'Brien of 1010 XL.
The bottom line is that Lawrence appears to be on schedule to be ready for the regular season, based on accounts from reporters and his work in practice. Nothing to see here.
