The Jacksonville Jaguars got in on the fun with the 2026 NFL schedule release, setting social media ablaze by promising a major fashion change for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. It looked like Lawrence was going to say goodbye to the long, flowing locks that had become one of his trademarks, going back to his collegiate days at Clemson.

Lawrence revealed what was going to be his new cut, and the swept-over shorter trim had fans worrying if he was going to roll into the season with this fashion faux pas as his main look. After the best season of his career, why mess with success, after all?

The Jags' social media team confirmed that the new look is not real, showing that he tied his longer hair back and put on a wig to fool folks on social media. Considering how many people are still believing in this misdirection, the team deserves some props for keeping the mystery alive for as long as they did.

Jacksonville also managed to capture some reactions from Lawrence's teammates. Linebacker Foye Oluokun said that he looks like a Harry Potter character assigned to Gryffindor, defensive lineman Arik Armstead called him a "Disney character," and pass rusher Travon Walker was in such disbelief at the new look that he could only assume it was a wig.

Lawrence is fresh off finishing fifth in MVP voting in 2026. Not only did he throw for 29 touchdowns and run for nine more in his first year with Liam Coen under center, but he helped the Jaguars win 13 games and capture an AFC South title before a home loss against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

Jacksonville will be at home twice in the first four games of the year, starting off against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 before welcoming the New England Patriots in Week 3. The Jaguars will go on the road in Weeks 2 and 4 to face the Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals before two games in London against the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans.

The Jaguars have a unique stretch wherein they will only play three games in Duval County between Weeks 4 and 16, to account for the fact that EverBank Stadium will be undergoing major renovations. The Jags had better make the most of this opportunity, as they will be spending the entire 2027 season in Orlando at UCF's Camping World Stadium.

While Lawrence himself said that he wouldn't be opposed to the cut, he did mention that his wife Marissa prefers it to be longer. That, paired with how iconic the long hair pouring out of the back of his helmet has become, will make it very unlikely that he will be chopping this off anytime soon.
