Trevor Lawrence's path to success with the Jaguars in 2025 is abundantly clear

On paper, it's easy. In practice? Not so much.

There's no player under more pressure to deliver for the Jacksonville Jaguars than Trevor Lawrence, and understandably so. The former Clemson Tiger was somewhat underwhelming the past two seasons and enters 2025 needing to live up to the monster contract extension he signed last year. An NFL analyst believes the pieces are there for him to succeed.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report put together a list of reasons why each NFL quarterback can have success in 2025 and believes Lawrence is in a position to dominate because of the talent around him.

"The talent is obviously there for 25-year-old 2021 top pick, and it's possible incoming first-round receiver Travis Hunter can help Lawrence put it all together," Gagnon wrote. "Keep in mind, he's also got Brian Thomas Jr. and two strong backs in a vulnerable division."

As disappointing as Lawrence has been the past seasons, he wasn't as dreadful as he's been discussed. In fact, you could make the case that he's the sole reason the Jags have even had the chance to compete. Granted, his mechanics and decision-making were sloppy last year, but he didn't get much help from his supporting cast, forcing him to put the team on his back. Fortunately, that will no longer be the case.

Former head coach Doug Pederson wasn't actively involved in Lawrence's development, which is one of the reasons he suffered a dip in production. Pederson got the boot after 2024, and Liam Coen took his place. Throughout the offseason, Coen has been working with his quarterback to hone his fundamentals and footwork. Moreover, his supporting cast got upgrades in the offseason.

The team's brass beefed up the offensive line and added Travis Hunter and Dyami Brown, a wide receiver corps that already included budding star Brian Thomas Jr. Now, Lawrence has the protection and the weapons to make noise. Of course, it all will be dependent on one key factor.

Health, not lack of talent will be Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence's biggest hurdle

Talent has been an issue for Trevor Lawrence coming out of college. He's proven that he can play at a top-10 level when he hits his stride.

On the other hand, he has struggled to stay healthy. You could argue that players don't have control over injuries, but the truth is that availability is the best ability in the gridiron, and No. 16 hasn't been able to avoid the injury bug the past two seasons. He's currently recovering from an AC sprain he suffered in 2024 and will need to be at full strength come Week 1 if he wants to get off to a strong start.

If Lawrence is 100 percent, though, he won't have an excuse not to deliver. The table is set, and the pieces are there for him to play at a high level. He will certainly put to rest questions about his viability as a starting quarterback if he does.
