Getting drafted, especially in the first round, is an honor that prospects strive for. Players are surely feeling all the emotions as they see teams make a choice. Then again, two-way star Travis Hunter isn't like the rest, and his routine before the Jacksonville Jaguars made him the second overall pick in 2025 is proof of it.
Instead of being glued to the screen where he could see what was going on, Hunter was playing Clash of Clans, a video game, while waiting to get his name called. Fortunately, he didn't have to wait much, as the Jags wasted no time making a trade to move up for him just after the Tennessee Titans drafted Cam Ward first overall.
In case you're wondering, Clash of Clans is a mobile game where you build a village and protect it while trying to raid others. That may be an oversimplification of the gameplay, but as simple as it may sound, it's highly entertaining and competitive. It's hard to tell if Hunter spends too much time playing it, or maybe he was just trying to get his mind off the whole process. Either way, the clip shows that he was having fun throughout the draft.
It's also worth noting that Hunter isn't a fan of going to nightclubs or casinos. While there's nothing inherently wrong with either hobby, he prefers fishing or playing video games. Instead of throwing a party or going clubbing after his introductory press conference with the Jags, he said he wanted to get his hands on his playbook as soon as possible. That kind of commitment shows the Jags got it right when they made a bold move to draft him.
Travis Hunter is committed to becoming a game-changer for the Jaguars
As noted before, there's nothing wrong with going out. Other players like to do it and have success in the NFL. That said, Hunter's main focus is on becoming the best football player he can be. When asked if he feels pressure after the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to select him, he said that he doesn't feel any at all and instead has to put in the work to prove they made the right call.
Sure, there's a long way to go before the regular season starts, but Hunter is already on the right track. If he can keep that focus in the upcoming months, he'll be that difference-maker the Jaguars expect, regardless of how much time he spends on either side of the football.
