The Jacksonville Jaguars are seemingly leaving no stone unturned in their effort to bolster the defensive line ahead of the trade deadline.

Just a couple games after the Chicago Bears sent two first-round picks to the Tennessee Titans in return for Jeffery Simmons, Tom Pelissero of The Ringer reported that Jacksonville was among several teams that reached out to the Tennessee Titans.

Now, just because the Jags showed interest in Simmons doesn't mean that they were going to trade for him. That said, they knew that he wasn't going to come cheap, and that may be a sign that general manager James Gladstone could take a big swing before the deadline.

The Jaguars didn't have a chance to land Jeffery Simmmons

James Gladstone made an appearance on the Jags' HQ podcast and stated that interdivision trades aren't generally on the table when Tony Boselli brought up the DeForest Buckner and Jeffery Simmons trades.

"If only we're in a different division, in that the typical approach of interdivision trades isn't generally on the table," Gladstone said (1:03:34 mark).

When you add Tom Pelissero's report to the mix, it's clear that the Jags made a push for Simmons, but he was a long shot because he plays in the same division. And with Simmons and Buckner out of the mix, the defensive-line market is shrinking fast.

Just before Week 8, the Washington Commanders placed Daron Payne on the Injury Reserve list with a season-ending foot injury. Payne was seen as a potential trade target for the Jags. They can take him off their wish list after the latest news.

That probably leaves Zach Sieler as Jacksonville's top target. Then again, if James Gladstone was willing to take a swing for Simmons, perhaps he'll make an aggressive effort for Moro Ojomo.

The Jaguars may be willing to meet the Eagles' price for Moro Ojomo

The Philadelphia Eagles have gotten inquiries about defensive tackle Moro Ojomo but aren't reportedly interested in trading him. However, it's possible that they're trying to drive up his price. Ojomo is entering the last year of his rookie deal, so unless teams are open to giving him an extension, he could turn out to be a one-year rental.

Then again, the Jags could get more bang for their buck with the Lagos, Nigeria native because he's younger than Payne and Simmons and still has untapped potential. Granted, Ojomo hasn't been nearly as productive as his veteran counterparts, but that's why maybe Jacksonville can get him for a third-round pick.

The bottom line is that the Jaguars need to add reinforcements to their offensive line. How they do it remains to be seen. But based on the Jeffery Simmons report, it's clear that they're not afraid to make a splash, even if the cost is high.
