The Jacksonville Jaguars underwent a roster overhaul in the offseason, but the cupboard wasn't bare when the new regime took over early in 2025. On offense, they had franchise cornerstones such as budding star Brian Thomas Jr. and quarterback Trevor Lawrence. On defense, the Jags had bookend pass rushers Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen. NFL Media reminded everyone just how much of a game-wrecker the latter is by giving him a spot on this year's list of the top 100 players.
Every year, NFL Media puts together a list of the best 100 players, voted by their peers. Hines-Allen cracked the 2025 list at No. 63. Here's what writer Christian Gonzales had to say about the selection.
"A consistent pass rusher for Jacksonville, Hines-Allen was one of the Jaguars' bright spots in 2024," Gonzales argued. "Since 2021, he has recorded seven-plus sacks in each season as he continues to disrupt the opposing run and pass game. Hines-Allen makes his second-consecutive apperance in the Top 100, and the two Pro Bowler shows no signs of slogin down in his seventh season."
Former Jaguars teammate Mitch Morse said on a video commemorating Hines-Allen's selection that he's glad he didn't play on the edges or had to go against the two-time Pro Bowl edge rusher, noting that he had the physical presence and the talent to wreak havoc.

On the other hand, Hines-Allen suffered a steep slide compared to last year's ranking, tumbling all the way from No. 35. Then again, the dropoff is understandable when you take into account that the former Kentucky Wildcat posted just 8.0 sacks in 2024 after logging a franchise-best 17.5 the season prior.
Still, Hines-Allen was pretty productive in 2024, sacks notwithstanding. He was among the best pass rushers in the league when it came to causing disruption, ranking sixth among his peers.
Other players who appear on the countdown before Hines-Allen were Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu (70), Eagles offensive lineman Jordan Mailata (69), Packers quarterback Jordan Love (68), Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (67), Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey (66), Cardinals tight end Trey McBride (65), and Broncos quarterack Bo Nix (64).

Josh Hines Allen won't be the last Jaguars player to make the top-100 list
What stands out about the spots below Josh Hines-Allen is the appearance of Malik Nabers. The sophomore wide receiver proved to be a stud in 2024. In fact, he was one of the top 10 players at the position in a recent ESPN ranking despite the fact that Brian Thomas Jr. was objectively better. This is good news, though.
Trevor Lawrence made the countdown at No. 94, but unless Thomas is outright snubbed, he should earn a spot on the list. He deserves it, having hauled in 82 receptions for 1,282 yards with 10 touchdowns last year. Moreover, he earned a Pro Bowl alternate nod and finished fourth in the Offensive Rookie Year voting.
The Jaguars have plenty of talent to potentially make noise next season, and the top 100 list is proof of it.
