The Jacksonville Jaguars had a handful of needs at the trade deadline. However, they only managed to bolster their wide receiver corps when they acquired the sure-handed Jakobi Meyers. The team's brass also wanted to bring in reinforcements at tight end and defensive tackle but couldn't get deals done.
With the window to make trades now closed, the Jags will need to turn to whatever remains of free agency to make upgrades to the roster. In fact, they should turn their attention to one player that the rival Tennessee Titans just released.
The Titans just released Quandre Diggs, the Jags need to take a flyer on him
Titans reporter Jim Wyatt broke the news that the Titans were releasing Quandre Diggs, noting that the veteran requested to be cut in an effort to get an opportunity somewhere else.
Diggs is subject to waivers. If he goes unclaimed, he'll become a free agent. Either way, the Jags should make a run for him.
A sixth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in 2015, Diggs was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in 2019. He made three straight Pro Bowls with the Hawks but was let go in 2024. The former Texas Longhorn spent several months looking for a team before joining the Titans in August of last year. He ended the year on Injured Reserve but re-signed in 2025.
Diggs appeared in all nine games with four starts with Tennessee. He wasn't great, but he wasn't dreadful either. Either way, the Titans are undergoing a youth movement after firing head coach Brian Callahan, and the veteran safety wasn't going to be part of their long-term plans, so asking for his release made sense. The Jaguars could be a legitimate landing spot for him.
The Jags are currently 5-3 and have a favorable schedule in the second half of the season. Although they face an uphill battle, they have a legitimate shot to make the playoffs, especially if they beat the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10.

Quandre Diggs could immediately help the Jaguars
The Jaguars could use reinforcements at safety. They recently placed Eric Murray on Injured Reserve, and he'll return at the earliest in Week 13. Antonio Johnson is filling in for him but struggled against the Las Vegas Raiders. Andrew Wingard hasn't been much better. Quandre Diggs could provide depth and give Jacksonville an option in case they want to make changes at the position.
It's also worth noting that Diggs has a reputation for being a leader, so having him around would be huge for a team that's learning how to win. Couple that with the fact that it probably won't be cost-prohibitive to lock him up, and taking a flyer on him makes sense.
Sure, Quandre Diggs is past his prime, but he still has gas left in the tank, enough to help the Jaguars take care of an area of need.
