This Travis Hunter take will drive Jaguars fans crazy

There is a reason why Travis Hunter went no. 2 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. He was a must-have, can't-miss player that the Jacksonville Jaguars weren't going to leave without.

But, one particular expert is already throwing some cold water on Hunter's impending rookie campaign.

ESPN's Aaron Schatz took part in a recent predictions column and, when it came to more of a bolder take, he went straight for Hunter.

ESPN analyst thinks Travis Hunter's interception total will remain zero all season long

"Hunter won't have a single interception in his rookie season. I think he will get some playing time on the defensive side of the ball, but not as much as you might expect," Schatz wrote.

I suppose this is a bold prediction, and if that's what they were going for in this column, Schatz did ESPN a favor going for the gold here.

However, we are talking about a player who is coming off two incredible collegiate seasons that saw him total not just 16 pass breakups but seven interceptions.

Do we really think he's going to be shut out as a rookie?

No chance.

Hunter is too much of a playmaker not to end up with at least one or two picks. He's going to be in the right position at the right time, sooner or later. Even if it isn't necessarily his doing, the ball will fall into his hands at some point.

The guy is a ball hawk, after all. He won't be shy about going after the football, and because of that, this prediction is going to come to a quick halt.

If we wanted to go with a more realistic bold prediction, how about something along the lines of Hunter playing less than 60 percent of defensive snaps? He'll likely get a lot of run on that side of the ball, but what if he's just too good offensively to risk wearing him out on defense?

That seems more realistic than Hunter not ending up with a single pick, but hey, that's just my opinion.

Hunter ends 2025 with four picks. You heard it here first.
