The Jacksonville Jaguars have put an emphasis on beefing up the offensive line this offseason. Already, they've made a handful of additions in free agency, but they'll continue to make moves in the upcoming months. On the other hand, they're also cutting ties with players who don't fit their plans. Deiter Eiselen is one of them.
The Jags announced that they're waiving Eiselen after signing him to the practice squad last year.

Earlier in the offseason, the Jags had signed Eiselen (and other players) to a future contract but appear to feel comfortable moving on from him after signing Chuma Edoga and Fred Johnson in free agency.
Eiselen went undrafted in 2020 and signed with the Chicago Bears, where he spent the next three years. He was waived in 2022 and spent time with the Houston Texans, Denver Broncos, and San Francisco 49ers before landing in Jacksonville in 2024. The Yale product didn't play a single game for the Jags but appeared in 24, split between Chicago and the Texans, throughout his career.
With Edoga and Johnson in the fold, Jacksonville could afford to move on from Eiselen. Granted, Edoga and Johnson mostly line up on the edge, whereas Eiselen plays guard. Nevertheless, they can use his roster spot for a player with a higher ceiling, something the team's brass has stressed the past few months.

Expect the Jaguars to keep reinforcing the O-Line in the draft
Aside from Dieter Eiselen, the Jacksonville Jaguars also let Brandon Scherff and Blake Hance walk in free agency. Their departures give the team's brass the chance to keep making further upgrades in the offensive trenches.
In addition to Chuma Edoga and Fred Johnson, the Jags signed Patrick Mekari Robert Hainsay to start at guard and center, respectively. Having said that, they've been linked to offensive line prospects Will Campbell and Armand Membou. Both played tackle at the college level, but the way the roster is set, they could move inside or even compete for a starting job.
But even if the Jags pass on both Campbell and Membou at No. 5, they could add another interior lineman in Rounds 2 or 3. Grey Zabel would provide lots of value with the 36th pick, but the front office could use one of their two picks in the third round to take someone like Tate Ratledge or Dylan Fairchald.
Ultimately, releasing Dieter Eiselen feels like a case of addition by subtraction. By moving on from him, the Jacksonville Jaguars are giving themselves a bit of flexibility to keep bolstering the offensive line.
