The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly tried to trade for Maxx Crosby, but their lack of a first-round pick in 2026 hurt their bid. In the end, the Baltimore Ravens managed to acquire the five-time Pro Bowl nod from the Las Vegas Raiders in return for two-round picks.
However, because the trade wasn't going to be official until the start of the league year, March 11, the Ravens could renege at any time, and that's precisely what they ended up doing. Looking back, it looks like Jacksonville dodged a massive bullet.
Maxx Crosby is reverting to the Raiders after failing his physical with the Ravens
Baltimore is walking back from the Maxx Crosby trade after he failed his physical. The Raiders get the East Michigan Eagle back, but they also have to return the two first-round picks they had acquired.

More information will surface in the upcoming days, but this appears to be a bad look for all parties involved. The Raiders shut down Crosby late in 2025 because he was dealing with an injury. If it wasn't more serious than they made it seem, they made a deal knowing that he wasn't 100 percent.
On the other hand, the Ravens look bad after reneging on the trade. If they really wanted Crosby, couldn't they wait for him to heal? Without further details, we can only speculate, but the truth will be in the details.
Either way, this was a possible outcome all along. Just like players can change their minds after agreeing to terms, teams can also renege on moves before they become official.
A fourth-round pick in 2019, Crosby is one of the most dominant pass rushers in the NFL, registering 69.5 sacks the past seven seasons. However, his relationship with the Raiders soured once they placed him on the Injured Reserve with a knee injury in December, even though he said he was good enough to go. The impasse eventually led to trade speculation.
Now, the Raiders are back to square one. It's hard to tell how things will play out, but it's fair to say that the Maxx Crosby debacle is far from over.
The Jaguars need to pass on Maxx Crosby even though he's available again
As noted before, the Jaguars didn't have a first-round pick in 2026 because they gave it up last year when they moved up for Travis Hunter. Without the first-rounder, they couldn't put together an enticing enough package for Maxx Crosby. That might've been a blessing in disguise. After all, Jacksonville could be going through with what the Ravens are dealing with after backing out of the trade.
On the other hand, the Jags cannot uncork the champagne just yet, as they still need pass-rush help. The one player they should avoid is Crosby, though. If he failed his physical with Baltimore, he probably won't be able to pass it with them.
Instead, Jacksonville should turn its attention to Trey Hendrickson, who's still available because teams aren't caving to his contract demands. Other options include Arnold Ebiketie or K'Lavon Chaisson. Either one could be a dependable No. 3 behind Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen.
The Jaguars have no shortage of options to reinforce the pass rush, but after the failed trade attempt, they're better off steering cleer of Maxx Crosby.
