The Jacksonville Jaguars placed return specialist Devin Duvernay on the Injured Reserve list. However, they haven't missed a beat due to the amazing play of sophomore Parker Washington, who showed how valuable he is with an electrifying play against the New England Patriots in Week 7.

After the Jags went ahead on the scoreboard 20-10, their defense forced New England to punt. Parker Washington was the returner for the play and wasted no time breaking off a 96-yard touchdown return to make it 20-10.

Trevor Lawrence then connected with rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. on a two-point conversion to go up 22-10.

Washington, a fifth-round pick in the 2023 draft, has been one of the team's bright spots in what's otherwise been a disappointing season. The former Penn State Nittany Lion missed time early in his rookie season but saw an uptick in playing time when wide receiver Christian Kirk suffered a core injury. He finished last year with 15 receptions for 132 yards with two touchdowns.

It's fair to say that Chris Rose's amazing narration make the play sound even more exciting.

During the offseason, Washington showed noticeable improvement and even got praise from the coaching staff. Then, the preseason came, and he made the most of his opportunities as a wide receiver and as a returner.

In the preseason opener, Washington had a 74-yard return against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The following week, he reeled in a 25-yard touchdown pass.

Parker Washington's play is giving the Jaguars a realistic chance to beat the Patriots

The Jacksonville Jaguars got off to a rough start in Week 7. Their defense couldn't stop the New England Patriots, and it looked like they were going to struggle throughout the game, but something clicked, and the Jags are getting impressive performances from their playmakers.

Aside from Parker Washington's dynamic return, wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. has come through, reeling in two receptions for 62 yards with a touchdown, along with the two-point conversion. Similarly, running back Tank Bigby has been his usual self, toting the rock eight times for 39 yards with one touchdown.

The defense, for its part, has also woken up. After giving up 131 yards on the Patriots' first two drives, they've surrendered just 19 yards the rest of the first half. Of course, Trevor Lawrence has also stepped up, completing 9 of 10 passes for 131 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

What looked like a potential blowout has suddenly turn into a winnable game for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Parker Washington's electrifying return for a touchdown is a reason why.
