The Jacksonville Jaguars are a bad team. You could make the case that they're not but their 0-2 record to start the season speaks for itself. Heck, you can ask Trevor Lawrence and he'll tell you as much.

Lawrence met with the local media after the 18-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns and said that they have no excuses. They're a bad team.

"We suck right now, pretty shocked " Lawrence told the press corps. " Obviously, we had a great offseason, great train camp, and we got to figure it out. We got a good group, we got good players, and can be a good, really good offense, but clearly we're not. Everybody's gonna take accountability, look in the mirror. Fix it. I gotta play better. Leader of this offense, it's on me."

Lawrence continued, "The wideouts got to play better. The [offensive] line's gotta play better. Everybody's gonna play better, coach better. It's everybody, honestly. We're standing around. We got to take we got to take charge. We're sitting around waiting for somebody to make a play. Defense is playing their ass off last two weeks. If a team doesn't score more than 20 points than us, we should win every week. Can't finish in the red zone today. Too many mistakes in the huddle. Communication wasn't good."

"It's just, it's a lot of things. And, fortunately, and unfortunately, it pisses you off. A lot of it, we control. We control it, but we're not doing it right. So, we do it, right? It's a similar story. We know that things are going to work on and we got to find a rhythm as an offense. Too many good players to perform like that," Lawrence said.

Jacksonville only had 81 yards in the first half. The quarterback himself had tallied a measly 16. The defense, on the other hand, had trouble stopping Deshaun Watson. Still, they held them to 18 points at the end of the game. The second half started and the Jags showed signs of life. They even drew within 16-13 of Cleveland but they couldn't get the job done.

With a chance to tie the game, Lawrence and the offense were on their own two-yard line. He was sacked in the goal line for a safety. The Jags had another opportunity to win but this time, they needed to score a touchdown if they wanted to come out on top. They failed.

The Jaguars must quickly find answers to stop their tumble

Now, the Jaguars are two games behind the Houston Texans in the division race. The silver lining is that there's plenty of time to turn things around. Having said that, it's hard to look at how they've played the past two weeks and believe they'll turn the corner.

The offensive line was one of the team's biggest weaknesses last year. It isn't much better now, having given up seven sacks in the past two games. Precisely because of their inability to protect Trevor Lawrence, the Browns got the safety late in the game.

Lawrence, for his part, must make better decisions. The Jags were near the Cleveland goal line and he could've targeted Brian Thomas Jr. for an easy touchdown. Instead, he left the pocket and attempted a pass that fell incomplete. The play design on offense and questionable coaching haven't helped.

Speaking of Thomas, the coaching staff must make him an integral part of the offense. His arguably their best receiver and he doesn't get nearly enough targets. Against the Browns, he had four. He caught two of them for 92 yards.

The bottom line is that the Jaguars are off to a bad start to 2024. If they want to turn the corner, they have no time to lose.
