The Jacksonville Jaguars will try to rinse the bad taste last year left in their mouth when they face the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 of the 2024 season. They're currently a 3.5-point underdog, so this is most definitely a winnable matchup. One thing that could hamper their effort is the weather, which could be less than ideal for football.

Playing in Hard Rock Stadium in September is never a pleasant experience for visiting teams because of the high temperatures. However, that's not the only thing Jacksonville will need to worry about when they play their intrastate neighbors.

The Jaguars-Dolphins weather report is bad news for fans who attend the game

The forecast for the Jaguars' matchup against the Dolphins doesn't look great. It's projected to be 89 degrees Fahrenheit during kickoff with a 66 percent possibility of humidity. This will make it feel like 100 degrees but that's not the worst part. It will increase to 90 degrees throughout the game, and there's a 29 percent chance for precipitation. On top of that, there could be a thunderstorm throughout the game, so the game may start later than the scheduled time of 1:00 p.m. EST.

In case you missed it, the 2024 season opener on Thursday Night between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens was put off for 20 minutes because of a thunderstorm. When there's one in a game with an indoor venue, players must leave the field and cannot return until the lighting passes.

Once the storm was over, Chiefs and Ravens players could return to the field to resume warmups. The silver lining is that once the game started, there were no further delays, and the game proceeded as expected.

Now, it's not a given that there will be a storm when Jacskonville plays the Dolphins but fans in attendance won't be amused about the forecast. Basically, the Jags are going to encounter quintessential Florida weather when they face the Phins.

Things to keep an eye on when the Jaguars play the Dolphins

The last time these two teams played was in 2021. The game took place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in England. Jacksonville came out on top in what would be their first victory of the year. Urban Meyer was the coach for the Jags then. He was given the boot near the end of the season. Since then, the team has undergone several changes but Trevor Lawrence remains the quarterback.

Lawrence is looking to bounce back after an underwhelming season in which injuries hampered his performance. Working in his favor is that he's fully healthy and has a pair of new weapons in rookie Brian Thomas Jr. and Gabe Davis.

On the other hand, the Jacksonville defense will face the Dolphins' high-powered offense. Last year, they ranked first in the league in total yards and second in points scored. Defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen will need to have his unit ready to contain Tua Tagovailoa, who'll have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at his disposal.

All things considered, this will be a tough matchup for the Jaguars but they have the pieces to win it, even if the weather is less than optimal.
