No. 1 Jaguars player under 25 in 2023: Trevor Lawrence, QB

Current age: 23

It's become common to see discussions on who's the better quarterback, Justin Herbert or Trevor Lawrence. The truth is that this is a fluid situation and it might be a while before the debate is settled. Having said that, Lawrence has the edge right now, especially when you take into account that Herbert got to a more favorable start to his NFL career.

Although the former Oregon Duck didn't have a superb head coach in Anthony Lynn in his rookie season, he had a way better-supporting cast than the one Lawrence had in his first year as a pro. In fact, it's a quasi-miracle that Urban Meyer didn't break him beyond repair and everybody was able to see how talented he was as soon as Doug Pederson took over last year. It also helps that the former Clemson Tiger played a huge role in Jacksonville beating Los Angeles twice last season.

Under Pederson, Lawrence improved in every meaningful metric and he's poised to be even better and possibly be in MVP talks next season. And that's the thing, the best is yet to come for the Jaguars and their franchise quarterback. In just his third season, Lawrence is quickly ascending to the top of the league.

Having him in the same conversation as Joe Burrow, Josh Allen and Herbert as an upper-echelon quarterback would have been unthinkable as recently as 2021 but not anymore. Expect to solidify his place as a top 5, maybe top 3 quarterback by the end of the 2023 season.
