Starters score 2 TDs, other predictions for Jaguars preseason bout vs. Miami
Trevor Lawrence hasn't played much in the last two preseason games but that's about to change when the Jacksonville Jaguars face the Miami Dolphins in the finale. After the 25-7 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 2, head coach Doug Pederson said he wanted to see the starters get extended playing time against the Dolphins.
In his latest exchange with the local media, Pederson reiterated his comments, noting that he would like to see the starters play close to half the game. This makes sense when you take into account that this will be the Jags' last chance to fine-tune things before the opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
The fact that Miami will also play their starters early will make it a compelling game. So what should be expected in the finale? Here are five predictions.
5. Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars starting offense will score 2 TDs
Trevor Lawrence told the media that the main goal of the game is to be clean and execute. He and the first-team offense were sharp for the most part in the training camp. However, there are still a few details the third-year quarterback and his teammates must work on.
His interception against the Cowboys in the opener seemed to have been a direct result of miscomunications with other skill-position players. He and the offense surely got back to the drawing board and looked for ways to fix it.
Lawrence and the rest of the offense will have a clear execution against the Dolphins. This should lead to two offensive drives that will end in the Miami end zone.
