NFL Draft Do-Over 2022: Jacksonville Jaguars go a different route at No. 1 year later
Jacksonville Jaguars 2022 Draft Do-Over: Round 1, pick 27 - Devin Lloyd
The Jaguars showed how much they liked linebacker Devin Lloyd when they traded back into the first round to take him with the 27th overall pick. The former Utah Ute was off to a strong start in 2022, registering six passes defensed and two interceptions in his first three NFL games. However, he eventually hit the dreaded rookie wall and was benched in favor of fellow linebacker Chad Muma.
Missing a good portion of training camp with a hamstring injury might have affected Lloyd's development. However, he's now healthy and ready to claim the starting job back. While there are a few other players the Jags could have selected at No. 27, the California native showed last year the kind of playmaker he can be, so this pick stays the same.
Jacksonville Jaguars 2022 Draft Do-Over: Round 3, pick 65 - Luke Fortner
No team would ever pass up the chance to draft a Week 1 starter in the middle or late rounds and although Luke Fortner didn't get many first-team reps early in training camp, he ended up starting at center in Week 1 and never looked back.
In fact, Fortner achieved the rare feat of not missing a single offensive snap last year. Despite the fact that the former Kentucky Wildcat struggled at times in 2022, he hasn't reached his ceiling yet, which is why this pick doesn't change either. Promise it's the last one that goes unchanged. Granted, the Jaguars could have selected Cam Jurgens in the second round but they wouldn't have been able to trade up for Lloyd.
It's true that Jurgens is coming off a promising rookie campaign but Fortner will get much better in Year 2.
