Looking at the Jacksonville Jaguars and AFC South after Week 3
The Jacksonville Jaguars came into the season expecting to be one of the best teams in the NFL. It felt like a year in which they could realistically be the number-one seed in the AFC. If that were the case, an appearance in the Super Bowl wouldn't be out of the question.
Now, they got off to a good start against the Indianapolis Colts to start 1-0. Then, the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs defeated them in week 2 to bring them down to 1-1. It was a close game vs. the best team in the league.
Sometimes, you lose a game to the Chiefs. Every team in the league could lose to a team like that at any given time. It was their week three performance that started to make people worry about them. They fell to 1-2 after losing to the Houston Texans.
This is now a losing streak for the Jaguars and they need to get it fixed. If not, they are going to find themselves out of the race real quick. Speaking of the race, this is what their AFC South Division is looking like right now:
1. Indianapolis Colts (2-1)
2. Houston Texans (1-2)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2)
4. Tennessee Titans (1-2)
The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking to bounce back after a tough start.
The good news for the Jaguars is that they are only one game out of first place. The Colts got a win over the weekend after starting 0-1 by losing to the Jaguars so they have the lead right now. The other three teams are all 1-2 so there is still plenty of time. The rest of the AFC is a problem too.
The bad news is that the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills seem to have figured it out and the Miami Dolphins look like they could even be the best team in the NFL. Right now, the Jaguars are there with the Cincinnati Bengals hoping to bounce back this season.
The Bengals did get their first win of the season on Monday night which was nice for them but they are probably going to go on a run now. The Jaguars need to start winning if they are going to keep up.
At the end of the day, however, winning the AFC South is the most important thing in terms of a playoff berth. If they do that, they will get a home playoff game to start which would be nice.
The Texans are going to hit the road to play the Pittsburgh Steelers this week which should be a tough matchup for them. Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts are going to be hosting the Los Angeles Rams. The aforementioned Bengals are going to play the Titans in Nashville so that is a hard matchup as well.
The Jaguars are headed to London to take on the Atlanta Falcons. This will be the first of two straight games in London for the Jaguars. It should be incredibly fun to watch them play there but it is getting close to being a must-win for them. Hopefully, things do turn around again. They are far too talented to be a bad team.
