The Jacksonville Jaguars suffered a massive blow when they lost defensive end Josh Hines-Allen to a concussion in the 24-20 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 4. To nobody's surprise, he landed on the initial injury report for the game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Hines-Allen is on concussion protocol, and he'll need to clear a test to suit up in Week 5. A first-round pick in the 2019 draft, the former Kentucky Wildcat is one of the team's most important players on defense, so not having him against the Colts would be less than ideal. Having said that, he isn't the only Jaguar who appeared on the injury report.

Like Hines-Allen, linebacker Devin Lloyd didn't participate in practice. Defensive back Darnell Savage (quad), linebacker Yasir Abdulla (neck), running back Tank Bigsby (shoulder), wide receiver Gabe Davis (shoulder), running back Travis Etienne (shoulder), Jarrian Jones (shoulder) and tight end Evan Engram (hamstring) also popped up on the report.

Of the bunch, Engram's inclusion is worth keeping an eye on. The former Ole Miss Rebel has been dealing with a hamstring injury he sustained during warmup ahead of Week 2. He's missed the past three games but the fact that he's practicing bodes well for his chances of playing against the Colts. Before the team published the injury report, head coach Doug Pederson provided updates on most of the players who popped up on it.

"Devin, we'll see today, he'll be out there, but he'll also be with our medical team, doctors, and trainers and working a little bit on the side," Pederson told the media. "Darnell's one, we got to get back into practice, this week again, try to see, see if he can really push through some of the things that are holding him back right now. It's just a trust factor with him, I think, just going out and doing it."

"Josh, obviously, we know is still in protocol. That's a day-to-day thing, and, and I want to make sure he's 100% but those other two guys will, you know, it'll take the week... Yeah, Evan is day to day, he'll get out and he'll do some of our individual stuff today, and then we'll see, as each day progresses, see how he feels."

Lloyd suffered a knee injury at practice ahead of Week 4. At the time, Pederson said that the linebacker was feeling fine and was on track to play against the Texans. In the end, he ended up sitting out the contest.

On the other hand, the head coach was optimistic about Savage's chances of playing in Week 4 but he missed his third consecutive game while he recovers from a quad injury.

Having Evan Engram against the Colts would be huge for the Jaguars

Evan Engram's absence has loomed large for the Jacksonville Jaguars. While one player won't make or break a team, it's fair to say that the Georgia native is one of their most important contributors on and off the field.

In the opener, Engram only had one catch for five yards but he hauled in a combined 187 yards with 1,729 yards with eight touchdowns the past two seasons. It's fair to say that the offense functions much better when he's on the field, so having him against the Indianapolis Colts would be huge.

On the other hand, Chad Muma will make his second straight start if Devin Lloyd isn't good to go. Meanwhile, rookie Jarrian Jones or Christian Braswell will fill in for Darnell Savage for as long as he's unavailable.

Right now, it look like the Jaguars will be without Josh Hines-Allen for Week 5, but having Evan Engram back in the fold should give the offense a boost.
