One of the the biggest plotlines surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of their Week 1 preseason matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs was the debut of wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. Having made several big plays in training camp, it was fair to wonder how the rookie would fare against other NFL teams. He passed the test with flying colors, and Gabe Davis took advantage of the opportunity to broadcast his status as a single man.

Thomas got minimal playing time in the preseason opener. Nine offensive snaps in the first two drives, according to Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus.

However, the rookie wideout was able to make the most out of his opportunities, reeling in a 41-yard catch. After the win over the Chiefs, Thomas was talking about how amazing it was to have his first NFL catch. That's when, out of nowhere, teammate Gabe Davis bombed the exchange and pitched the rookie to single people looking for a date.

"This guy's a great teammate, a great guy for you," Davis said when he interrupted the interview. "Listen, young, black, succesful. He's single, by the way. Just let everyone know he's single. You guys need somebody? He's your guy. "

Right after the exchange, Thomas was asked what it was like to have the support of his teammates," It's great to have teammates, to be around great people," he responded.

Here's Thomas' exchange with the local media, along with Parker Washington's media availability session. Davis pops up at the 4:09 mark.

Thomas' ability to stretch the field making an intriguing prospect coming out of college, and completing the 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine validated his speed. Needing to fill the void left by Calvin Ridley's departure in free agency, the Jaguars zeroed in on the former LSU Tiger.

Even though the Jags could've drafted Thomas with the 17th overall selection, they accepted a trade offer from the Minnesota Vikings to move down six spots because it was too good to pass up. To their surprise, the Louisiana native was still available at No. 23, and they wasted no time turning in the card with his name on it.

Throughout the offseason, Thomas showcased his ability to make plays but ran into a speed bump early in training camp. In his defense, he and the rest of the offense struggled because the coaching staff went through red-zone and third-down installs, which generally favor the defense.

As training camp progressed, Thomas was able to put his ability to get deep on display. It's just one game but it's fair to say it's carried into the preseason.

Brian Thomas Jr.'s Jaguars teammates are ecstatic about his preseason catch

As John Shipley of Sports Illustrated pointed out, the Jaguars sideline erupted when Brian Thomas Jr. reeled in a 41-yard catch against the Kansas City Chiefs. Here's the clip. You be the judge:

That's the kind of vibe you want in your locker room. As Thomas pointed out, it's great to see the veterans support their younger teammates because they're fostering a healthy environment that will incentivize everyone to give their best.

Although the catch won't count in the standings, and Thomas still has ways to go, the Jacksonville Jaguars should be pleased with how he's coming along.
