Tight end Evan Engram has had a huge impact since joining the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022. He broke several team records last year and he's already broken those records this season. In Week 17, he also became the first tight end in team history to register 100 catches in a season.

This is the 11th time in NFL history that a tight end has reached the 100-catch mark. Travis Kelce, Jason Witten (three times, 2018, 2020, 2022), Zach Ertz, Mark Andrews, Dallas Clark, Tony Gonzales, and Lionel Taylor were responsible for the 10 other times.

Engram entered the Panthers game with 98 receptions. As of this writing, he's caught three passes for 36 yards, giving him 101 receptions for the season.

Evan Engram has been a playmaker for the Jaguars

A first-round pick by the New York Giants in 2017, Engram signed with the Jags last year. He went on to have a career season, one in which he set new career bests for catches (73) and receiving yards (766). Along the way, he also broke team records for receiving yards by a tight end in a season, catches in a season by a tight end, and receiving yards by a tight end in a game.

Engram's success led him to sign a new three-year deal worth $44 million in the offseason. He's quickly proving that it was money well-invested, having an even better season than last year.

With Trevor Lawrence out for the game, Engram has turned into a reliable target for C.J. Beathard. Although the Jags haven't been able to reach the end zone, they're leading 6-0.

Heading into the game, Engram was confident the Jaguars were going to be able to bounce back from the losing skid they're currently riding. The former Ole Miss Rebel pointed out that everyone is hit with adversity and Jacksonville is dealing with it right now.

On a side note, outside linebacker Josh Allen has tied Calais Campbell's franchise record for sacks in a season with 14.5. Stay tuned for more updates on the Jaguars' Week 17 matchup against Carolina.
