Jaguars schedule 2024: game-by-game predictions for upcoming season
Jaguars vs. Patriots (Wembley Stadium) Week 7
Just one week after facing a rookie quarterback, the Jaguars will play another one. This time, it will be Drake Maye's turn. The New England Patriots wanted to start over after moving on from Bill Belichick after 2023. To replace him, they promoted linebackers coach Jared Mayo and to ensure he's in a position to succeed, they gave him a top quarterback prospect.
That said, new England is in the early stages of a rebuild. Expect them to play sound football, with Mayo putting an emphasis on fundamentals. However, the Jaguars could prove to be too much for the Patriots, especially when you take into account that they'll be playing in their second home turf, aka, Wembley Stadium.
Prediction: Win
Jaguars vs. Packers Week 8
Doug Pederson has routinely asked the league not to get their BYE after traveling back from London. The league granted his request this year and has them hosting the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. While the Jaguars have shown they can travel well under Pederson, Green Bay could prove to be too much for them even though this bout will be held at the Bank.
Behind Jordan Love and a renewed commitment to running the ball with Josh Jacobs, the Packers will hand the Jags their first loss after coming back home.
Prediction: Loss
Jaguars @ Eagles Week 9 (Sunday Night Football)
This is the second primetime game the league granted to the Jags next season. Doug Pederson will be facing the team he took to Super Bowl 52 for the second time as the head coach of the Jaguars. The last time these two teams played, Jacksonville was still finding their identity and fell flat. This will be an important game for Pederson, so his players will ensure he'll get the win. Last year, Philly came crashing down the stretch, and it's fair to wonder if they'll recover. Whether they do or not, the Jags need to win this one for Doug P.
Prediction: Win
Jaguars vs. Vikings Week 10
The Jags will be facing three first-year quarterbacks in 2024. J.J. McCarthy will be one of them but unlike his rookie counterparts, he'll benefit from joining a vested head coach in Kevin O'Connell. The Vikes have undergone many changes over the last two years. Yet, they remain competitive, so beating them, even at EverBank Field, won't be a walk in the park. Don't be surprised if this turns out to be a trap game for Jacksonville.
Prediction: Loss
