Taking a look at the Jaguars' playoff chances, odds, and prediction for how thing will shake up in Week 18 of the NFL season.
Things were starting to look bleak for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They had lost four-straight games and were in danger of losing out on a spot in the playoffs. Thankfully, they got back on track with a 26-0 shutout win against the Carolina Panthers in Week 17.
The bad news is both the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans won in Week 17, which means the AFC South will be decided in Week 18.

The Jaguars do have a chance of losing on Week 18 but still making a wild card spot, therefore their odds to make the postseason are a little bit shorter than their odds to win the AFC South. They have an implied probability of 65.52% of winning the AFC South but a 74.36% chance of making the playoffs.
Jaguars playoff scenarios
The easiest way for the Jaguars to make the playoffs is to win their Week 18 game against the Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars, Colts, and Texans are all sitting at 9-7, but if the Jaguars win, they'll have the tiebreaker atop the division no matter who wins between the Colts and Texans.
So, beat the Titans, win the AFC South, and host a playoff game. It's just that simple.
The Jaguars do still have a chance of sneaking in a wild card spot if they lose to the Titans. If that happens, the winner of the Colts vs. Texans will be AFC South champs but if the Steelers lose to the Ravens, the Jags will clinch a wild card berth.
The wrench thrown into that plan is the Steelers play the Baltimore Ravens, who have nothing to play for having already clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC. If they rest their starters, the Steelers could waltz to victory.
If the Jaguars lose but the Steelers win, Jacksonville will be on the outside of the playoffs looking in.
Jaguars playoff prediction
The Jaguars lucked out when it came to the schedule. They get to take on the worst of the AFC South teams in the final showdown in Week 18. Despite having to play on the road, oddsmakers still have faith in the Jaguars, setting them as 3.5-point favorites.
With the Titans reeling down the final stretch of the season, I think the Jaguars do what it takes to get the job done, beat the Titans, and win the AFC South.
