On Wednesday, the NFL was shaken up a little bit. Aaron Rodgers went on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday to announce that his intentions are to play for the New York Jets in 2023. That comes after a legendary tenure with the Green Bay Packers.

Obviously, this is going to change the way teams do business in both the NFC and AFC. Now, there is one less productive quarterback in an already weak conference. However, the AFC just got a lot harder because of this.

We all see Trevor Lawrence as a top quarterback now. We know that he is accompanied by Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson (maybe), and a few others. Now, you can add Aaron Rodgers to that mix.

He is going to hit the big market and try to elevate that team that was a quarterback away in 2022. It will either end up like the 2021 Los Angeles Rams or the 2022 Denver Broncos. Either way, it will be must-see TV.

Aaron Rodgers is going to be in the AFC during the 2023 NFL season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are not going to face the New York Jets in 2023 because the Jets weren't a first-place team and the two divisions aren't matched up. The only AFC East team that they will face is the Buffalo Bills because they are a fellow 2022 AFC first-place team.

To be honest, it is nice that they aren't matched up against the AFC East this year. Their schedule is going to already be daunting enough.

Now, the Jets could absolutely be a postseason opponent. If Rodgers goes into this system and succeeds right away, it is fair to assume that they will be a great team all-around based on what we saw last year.

During the regular season, it will be on them to just take care of their own business. Once the playoffs arrive, they can worry about Aaron Rodgers if he is on the other side but their regular season is hard enough.

From a football fan's point of view, this is awesome news though. The AFC is going to be crazy and so entertaining to watch. It is great to know that the Jaguars are part of the reason that 2023 will be so great for this conference.
