Jaguars inactives list for Week 1 game against Dolphins
The Jacksonville Jaguars are flying under the radar ahead of the regular season after failing to make the playoffs last year. Fortunately, they'll have a prime opportunity to bounce back when they play the Miami Dolphins in Week 1.
This won't be an easy matchup, the Jags will need to neutralize (or at least slow down) the wide receiver duo of Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. It's fair to say that defensive coordinator Ryan Nieslen will have his hands full for the game. The same is true for bookend pass rushers Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen, who'll be tasked with getting after Tua Tagovailoa and rattling him as much as possible.
Working in the Jags' favor is that they're mostly healthy for the matchup. Defensive tackle Arik Armstead, who signed a three-year deal worth $43.5 million in free agency, will be a full-go. The former Oregon Duck spent the offseason recovering from surgery he underwent to repair a torn meniscus he suffered last year.
Despite missing training camp and the preseason, Armstead will be a full-go against the Phins. He did show up on the final injury report for Week 1 but that's because he didn't participate in practice. His presence on the interior will prevent Miami from devoting extra attention to Walker and Hines-Allen, which will in turn lead to more pass-rush opportunities.
The only player who won't suit up for the Jaguars because of an injury is safety Daniel Thomas. The former Auburn Tiger has been dealing with a heel injury and didn't practice for the game. He got the questionable tag but was ultimately ruled out. To fill the void left by his absence, the team promoted veteran safety Terrell Edmunds from the practice squad to the active roster.
A first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018, Edmunds signed with the Jags this past May. He didn't make the initial 53-man roster but landed on the practice squad. With Andrew Wingard on the Injured Reserve list and Thomas ruled out against the Dolphins, the former Virginia Tech Hokie will be the No. 3 safety behind Antonio Johnson and Andre Cisco.
On the Miami sideline, rookie wide receiver Malik Washington was ruled out for the game with a quad injury. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who didn't practice Wednesday and Thursday. He was then a limited participant Friday was listed as questionable.
The coaching staff said they want to be smart with Ramsey, who signed a contract worth $72.3 million just before Week 1, because they'll face the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football just five games after facing Jacksonville.

Here's the list of inactives for the Jaguars in Week 1:
• Daniel Thomas
• Javon Foster
• Cole Van Lanen
• Esezi Otomewo
• Jordan Jefferson
• Jeremiah Ledbetter.
No surprises here. Daniel Thomas was ruled out before the game. The Jaguars don't need Cole Van Lanen or Javon Foster because they have depth at offensive tackle. Similarly, they're stacked on the defensive trenches, so Esezi Otomewo, Jordan Jefferson, and Jeremiah Ledbetter were needed.
Full inactives list for the Dolphins in Week 1, Jalen Ramsey will play
Cornerback Jalen Ramsey will be suiting up for the game but he won't be at full strength, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
With that in mind, here's the list of Dolphins inactives for the season opener.
•Jaylen Wright
• Ethan Bonner
• Channing Tindall
• Mohamed Kamara
• Andrew Mayer
• Malik Washington
This game will be held at Hard Rock Stadium. The Jaguars are a 3.5-point underdog, so bettors think it will be close. Having a healthy Trevor Lawrence behind a revamped offensive line will allow Jacksonville to come out on top.
