Jaguars inactives list for Week 3 against the Bills
The Jacksonville Jaguars will meet the Buffalo Bills in Week 3. They'll be looking to keep their winning streak against them alive, having won the past two times they faced each other. Working against them is that they're not currently doing that great. In fact, the Jags lost two games to start the 2024 NFL season and are a 5.5-point favorite for their game on Monday Night Football. Compounding the issue is that the Jags will be without a couple of key contributors.
The team ruled out tight end Evan Engram for Week 3. He suffered a hamstring injury during warmups before the loss to the Cleveland Browns. He didn't practice during the week ahead of the game against the Buffalo Bills.
On the other hand, safety Darnell Savage was listed as questionable with a quad injury. Head coach Doug Pederson told the media that they were going to give him a chance to see if he could go but was ultimately downgraded to out.
During Engram's absence, Brenton Strange will get the starting nod at tight end. The former Nittany State Lion caught three receptions for 65 yards in Week 3. Pederson believes that his strong outing will help him build confidence.
Rookie corner Jarrian Jones will fill in for Savage in the slot. The third-round pick played 57 defensive snaps at nickel in Week 3.
Running back Tank Bigsby and left tackle Cam Robinson also popped up on the injury report with shoulder and knee injuries, respectively. However, Pederson said that both of them will be good to go.
Before the game, the Jags elevated tight end Josiah Deguara and cornerback Christian Braswell from the practice squad to the active roster via standard elevation.
Deguara signed with the Jags in free agency after spending the last four years with the Green Bay Packers. Braswell was a sixth-round pick by Jacksonville in last year's draft.
