The Jacksonville Jaguars will be nearly at full strength for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. The same cannot be said about their opponents, the Miami Dolphins, who listed 13 players on their first injury report of the year. Of the bunch, one name stood out the most.

The Phins listed All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey on their injury report. A hamstring injury has held him back for two weeks and his availability for the season opener could be in question. Miami head coach Mike McDaniel says they're keeping him off the field to protect him from himself.

Center Aaron Brewer also appeared in the Dolphins' injury report with a limited designation. The former Tennessee Titan has dealt with a hand injury for a month. At this point, it's a bit early to rule him about but there's a chance he won't be 100 percent for the opener.

Other players who popped up on Miami's injury report were left tackle Terron Armstead (veteran rest), defensive end Calais Campbell (veteran rest), edge rusher Jaelan Phillips (Achilles/vet rest), linebacker Quinton Bell (thumb), cornerback Kendall Fuller (veteran rest), defensive tackle Benito Jones (knee), linebacker David Long (veteran rest), safety Jordan Poyer (thumb/veteran rest), linebacker Anthony Walker (knee/veteran rest), wide receiver Malik Washington (quadricep), and safety Jevon Holland (ankle).

Of the bunch, the most notable ones are Phillips and Poyer. The former is coming off an Achilles tear and will be a snap count for the opener. The latter, on the other hand, missed the offseason with a thumb injury but it looks like he'll be good to go.

The Jaguars, for their part, only listed one player on their first injury report of the season: Safety Daniel Thomas, who mainly contributes on special teams.

The Jaguars will get a huge break if they don't have to face Jalen Ramsey

The Miami Dolphins will be without edge rusher Bradley Chubb and wide receiver Odell Beckham for the opener. Both players will miss four games to start the season after landing on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The good news (from a Phins' perspective) is that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle for Week 1. Similarly, Miami is surely pleased they'll have Jaelan Phillips, even if he's on a snap count.

On the other hand, not having Jalen Ramsey around could hamper Miami's chances of coming out on top in the season opener. The ninth-year veteran has been one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL since the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted him in 2016. Last year, he only logged three interceptions and five passes defensed but that's mostly because he only suited up for 10 games.

If Ramsey isn't available, undrafted free agent Storm Duck could see extended action. Also, Trevor Lawrence will waste no time testing Kendall Fuller, who's a dependable corner but not nearly as good as Ramsey.

Now, it's not a given that Jalen Ramsey will miss the opener. The Jags must prepare as if he will. But if he doesn't, the Jags' chances of getting their first win of the year will get a boost.
