The schedule for the 2024 NFL season was expected to be announced on May 9. However, signs point to the league releasing it on May 15. The Jacksonville Jaguars already know their opponents, but like all other teams, they're waiting to know when they'll face them.

Ben Fisher of Sports Business Journal first reported that the schedule will tentatively be announced at 8 p.m. ET on May 15. He adds that teams have been informed about the release date. The past two years, the NFL announced the schedule on the second Thursday of May, that's why observers thought it would come out on the 9th. However, the league doesn't have an official date to release it.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk broke the news that the announcement would be moved to May 13-17. The 15th falls in that range. Here are a few tidbits pertaining to the Jaguars.

The Jaguars' opponents are already set, they just don't know the date

The Jaguars face all their division foes twice a year. That's six games, three at home and three as a visitor. Every team also gets four games against another division in the same conference. In 2024, Jacksonville will face off against the AFC East: The New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots, and the Buffalo Bills.

All clubs get to face the four teams from a division in the opposite conference, on a rotating, four-year cycle. Thus, the Jaguars will play the Chicago Bears, the Green Bay Packers, the Detroit Lions, and the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

The Jags will also face off against the Las Vegas Raiders and the Cleveland Browns because every team gets two intraconference games based on the standings from the year prior. Last, every team gets an interconference bout based on the standings from the previous year. In 2024, the Philadelphia Eagles will host Jacksonville.

If you're keeping track, that's 17 games for the Jaguars, and here's how their slate of 2024 opponents looks.

How many games will the Jaguars play in London in 2024?

If you noticed, there's an asterisk next to the Chicago Bears and the Cleveland Browns. That's because those will count as home and away games, respectively, but they'll be played in London. For the second time in as many years, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be playing back-to-back games in London.

The bout against Chicago will be at Tottenham Hotspur and the one against the Browns will be held at Wembley Stadium.

The Eagles will be playing their opener in Brazil, and because they'll be facing the Jags in 2023, there was a slight chance they would be their opponents. However, their opponent will be the Packers.

How many primetime games will the Jaguars get in 2024?

The Jags were granted three primetimes last year because they made the playoffs and won the AFC South in 2022. Given that they failed to qualify for the postseason and came crashing down the stretch, it's hard to see them getting as many in 2024. That said, they should get at least one, maybe two.

It's been somewhat of an unofficial tradition for Jacksonville to play on Thursday Night Football, so they'll most likely get a game on that day at some point in the season. Chatter about the Jaguars facing Detroit on Thanksgiving has been picking up steam in recent days. That said, they could get another one due to the presence of Trevor Lawrence.

Currently, Lawrence is one of the NFL's rising stars and the league will want to feature him in the spotlight as much as they can. Also, the Jaguars could be flexed into primetime if they get into a hot streak in the second half of the season.
