The Jacksonville Jaguars have long been seen as underdogs in the NFL. However, with the arrival of Trevor Lawrence, a highly-touted quarterback from Clemson, the team's fortunes are beginning to change.

Lawrence, a former national champion and Pro Bowl alternate, has already shown glimpses of his potential in his first two seasons in the league. As the Jaguars head into the 2023 season, there is a growing belief that Lawrence could lead the team to its first-ever Super Bowl victory. Let's look at realistic expectations for the Jaguars in 2023 and add them all up to see if they are possible.

Expectation No.1 Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence will throw for 5k yards

At just 23 years old, Trevor Lawrence has already established himself as one of the most promising quarterbacks in the NFL. In the 2022 season, Lawrence threw for 25 touchdowns and only eight interceptions. However, his performance in the Jaguars' last nine regular-season games caught the attention of many. During this stretch, the Clemson product threw for 15 touchdowns, just two interceptions, and 2,273 yards.

Lawrence's ability to handle pressure and maintain focus despite high expectations is commendable. In a recent interview, he expressed his indifference towards the hype surrounding the Jaguars and himself, stating, "I don't really care, to be honest. I think it's more dangerous to have people praising you than to not have any expectations."

Lawrence's mindset and determination to focus on his team's performance rather than external opinions bode well for the Jaguars' success in the upcoming season.

Looking at his totals last year, along with his play in the last nine games of the season, in addition to the improvement and stability improvement in the organization, multiplied by the descent of their rivals in the AFC South, plus their favorable schedule, multiple analysts are predicting Lawrence to be the tenth quarterback to throw for 5000 yards in a season... all conversations seem reasonable and exciting, it's almost hard to argue against.
