Jacksonville Jaguars: Would another Clemson prospect be a good choice in Round 1?
By Quinn Butler
With the 24th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be in a position to choose a pair of Clemson prospects, defensive tackle Bryan Bresee and defensive end Myles Murphy. After missing out on Calais Campbell and losing Arden Key in free agency, would taking one of these two and reuniting them with some former teammates make sense for the Jags?
If either Bresee or Murphy is still on the board, it might be a good idea to pick one of them (you can't really go wrong with either of the players and the talent and skill they possess) to add to the roster with some big-time run and pass blocking skills.
Myles Murphy or Bryan Bresee could immediately help the Jacksonville Jaguars
Both players are top prospects and expected to make an immediate impact for whichever team is fortunate enough to add them to their roster, so why would the Jaguars pass on an opportunity to bolster their defense? Adding them to a team that contains two former teammates at Clemson in Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne, certainly wouldn't hurt their transition into the NFL either.
Murphy was the more consistent of the two and has better numbers. Bresee has missed some time due to injury and personal reasons but both players are uber-talented and could make a huge impact on the Jaguars' roster in some of their most glaring areas of need on the defense.
While a defensive back or an offensive lineman may be higher on the team's list of priorities to fill during the draft, adding an immediate impact player by selecting either Bresee or Murphy could pay huge dividends for a team that lacked some defensive consistency from start to finish in 2022.
In the end, if either player were still available when the Jaguars are on the clock, they should seriously consider calling their name to the podium for a defense that could use the added level of talent.
