Jaguars No. 3 trade offer for Aaron Donald: K'Lavon Chaisson + 1st and 4th round picks

Donald for Chaisson

It isn't hyperbole to say that edge defender K'Lavon Chaisson has not lived up to expectations since the Jaguars drafted him 20th overall in 2020. So far, the former LSU Tiger has logged three career sacks over the last three years and has seen his playing time progressively decrease.

Having to learn a new scheme each of the last three seasons and needing to switch positions hasn't certainly helped. However, the Jaguars can't perpetually wait for Chaisson to put it all together, so he might be entering a make-or-break year. In fact, the team's brass decided not to exercise the fifth-year option on his rookie deal, so there's a good chance he could be on the proverbial roster bubble ahead of the regular season if he doesn't make a strong impression in training camp.

Not long ago, defensive line coach Brentson Buckner came to Chaisson's defense, noting that some players need a bit more time than others to develop. While that might be true, Swiper is running out of time to make an impact in Jacksonville, and if the top brass believes they've seen enough of him and are ready to move on, they could then trade him. Heck, they could even include him in a trade package for Aaron Donald.

The Rams are in need of pass rush help, with edge rusher Leonard Floyd joining the Buffalo Bills last month. Chaisson would be an intriguing reclamation project for defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, who's consistently found ways to get the most out of his players. Who knows? Chaisson could be next.

Besides offering a first-round pick and Chaisson, the Jaguars could throw a fourth-round pick in 2024. They picked an extra one along with the 127th selection this year when they traded pick 227 to the New Orleans Saints.
