No. 2 Jaguars trade offer for Chandler Jones: LB Chad Muma + 5th-round pick

The Raiders haven't had a top-10 defense in more than 20 years and last season was no different, ranking 26th in points allowed and 28th in total yards. They'll try to change that in 2023 and one of the steps they took in the offseason was revamping their linebacker corps. Las Vegas let Denzel Perryman walk in free agency and brought in Robert Spillane to take his place. Moreover, sophomore Luke Masterson is set to start and more is expected from Devine Deablo, a third-round pick in 2021.

Like most of the Raiders' defensive units, their linebacker corps could use a hand and sophomore Chad Muma could provide it. A third-round pick in the 2022 draft, Muma started a few games last season but he then suffered an ankle injury that sent him back to the sidelines. Although it was a small sample, the former Wyoming Cowboy flashed potential.

Unfortunately, Muma sits behind veteran Foyesade Oluokun and fellow sophomore Devin Lloyd. In spite of his performance last year, Muma didn't get a chance to compete for a starting job in training camp. Given the number of reps Lloyd got, there was no question he was going to get the nod.

While having a player of Muma's caliber is great, the Jaguars could also flip him. They also have Caleb Johnson and Shaquille Quarterman on the roster, so they could easily afford to move on from Muma, who could give the Raiders another option in case either Masterson or Deablo underperforms next season.
