NFL teams tend to find a way to lock up their own players before free agency starts, effectively preventing them from hitting the open market. The Kansas City Chiefs, though, have taken an interesting approach with cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. Unable to reach an extension, they're expected to place the franchise tag on him, but they'll allow him to engage with other teams to have a better feel for his market. Maybe the Jacksonville Jaguars should get in touch with him.

With free agency inching closer, the Chiefs informed Sneed he will get the tag but he'll be free to seek a trade, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN first reported. Sneed says he was ok with this scenario but doesn't rule out a return to Kansas City.

Sneed isn't a Pro Bowl cornerback but he surely played like one during the Chiefs' Super Bowl run. During the regular season, the former fourth-round pick registered two interceptions and didn't give up a single touchdown.

Moreover, Sneed posted a solid Pro Football Focus overall grade of 71.1 while giving up a 59.6 percent completion rate. If that wasn't enough, he has surrendered fewer than 10 yards per target the past two years, 9.0 and 9.7 in 2022 and 2023, respectively. The Jaguars could certainly use a cornerback of his caliber, especially when you take into account that Darious Williams and Tyson Campbell are set to become free agents in 2024.

Sneed would be an ideal fit in defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen's heavy-press scheme, but what would it take for the Jaguars to land him? Here are three trade proposals to make it happen.
