2. Dawuane Smoot
Another area the Jaguars could use some more depth is along the defensive line. One guy who is still out there is veteran Dawuane Smoot, who has spent his entire six-year career with Jacksonville.
Last year, Smoot finished his fourth-straight season with at least 5.0 sacks by notching that number exactly in 15 games. Smoot was unable to finish the season due to an Achilles injury, which is why he has remained unsigned. But, the Jaguars could sign him knowing there is familiarity there and allow him to continue getting back to full health.
When he was hurt last year, Smoot was first on the team in sacks, second in quarterback pressures and pass rush win-rate, and fourth in quarterback hits. He's been an integral part of this defensive unit for years, and one of the more underrated players at his position across the league.
Smoot would round out the depth in this area, although he probably wouldn't be ready for a little while. Still, getting him back and part of the team, spending time with them during camp and joining in on all of the activities he can, would be a positive.
