Jacksonville Jaguars CB Chris Claybrooks arrested on violent charges

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a criminal issue brewing in Nashville, Tenessee. Davidson County law enforcement booked Jaguars cornerback Chris Claybrooks into custody. There is very little detail regarding the offense at hand, but this is what we know so far.

Claybrooks, the Jags' seventh-round pick in the 2020 draft, was arrested Saturday for an incident on Thursday, April 14th, 2023. The arrest records site he is charged with a misdemeanor vandalism charge with damages less than $1,000 and a charge of assault with bodily injury.

The misdemeanor charge could be anything; for example, the victim's phone may have been damaged in the incident. However, the assault charge is much more severe. In reality, the assault is a charge that could potentially have a detrimental effect on his NFL career and life.

What is Jacksonville Jaguars CB Chris Claybrooks potentially looking at?

The assault charged against him in Davidson County is labeled as Asl, Dom Bod Inju. Now, what does Asl, Dom Bod Inju mean? It is a criminal charge of domestic assault with bodily injury and a misdemeanor.

It is a domestic issue, which may include threats, sexual violence, emotional abuse, and physical violence. In Tennessee, domestic assault is defined as assault against a person who is a member of the defendant's household or family. Unfortunately, it is an issue all too prevalent, frequent, and disturbing in today's NFL.

Claybrooks has been a productive contributor on special teams but he's nothing more than a role player. In his three years, he has started six games, logging 81 combined tackles and five passes defended.

Claybrooks is in his final year of this rookie contract, a four-year $3.39 million contract, and the Jaguars will most likely release him with little penalty. These are the things we hate to hear coming out in the off-season.

The Jaguars were planning on selecting a cornerback in the upcoming draft. This incident will move that position up the priority list and likely result in them using multiple picks on a defensive back. While we hope this is a misunderstanding, it is an unfortunate event for Chris Claybrooks.
