The Jacksonville Jaguars have watched as teams around the AFC South have gotten a whole lot better over the course of this offseason.

The Colts have done a nice job retaining their best players, while the Texans and Titans have added some big names via trades and free agency.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars haven't necessarily had a poor offseason. They've just been underwhelming by comparison. So, how do they hit a home run in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft and ensure they stay competitive this year?

In our latest mock draft, the Jaguars start by finding a couple of immediate-impact players on both sides of the ball.

The Jaguars do what they can to keep up with the rest of the AFC South in this 2024 mock draft

The Jags' first pick comes at no. 17 overall, and with that, they decide to go with a top-tier pass rusher to pair with Josh Allen.

. Laiatu Latu. 518. . 1. . player. Laiatu Latu. EDGE. Laiatu Latu

UCLA's Laiatu Latu might be the most purebred pass rusher of this class, but injuries are a concern. He could also be a little under in terms of the ideal weight it would take to play defensive end in a 3-4, but the opportunity to get such a ferocious player here is too good to pass up.

Latu plays the game with such an energy that you rarely see matched. He is downright nasty and mean in nature when on the field. He's relentless. If the Jags were to deploy him as a 3-4 outside linebacker and rotate he, Allen and Travon Walker, it would give this defense one heck of a trio.

Jacksonville may not have necessarily needed the position, but this is how you win in the NFL. You need to have top-tier talent at all positions, and too much talent is never a bad thing. Latu has the potential to be the best pass rusher of this class, and the Jaguars just landed themselves a cornerstone type of player.

Over the last two seasons, Latu has accumulated 34.0 tackles for loss and 23.5 sacks. Production is at the highest of levels for this guy, and he looks to translate it to the NFL in a hurry.
