No. 2 Jacksonville Jaguars 2023 opponent that could trade for Lamar Jackson: Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons started a rebuild when they parted ways with Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julio Jones, long-time staples of their offense. Similarly, they traded Calvin Ridley to the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. However, the Falcons are still looking for replacements for most of the players they've moved on from over the last two years.

While wide receiver Drake London flashed potential in his rookie season and tight end Kyle Pitts was a playmaker in 2021, Atlanta needs to find a quarterback that can get them the ball. Their front office seems to like Desmond Ridder, a third-round selection in last year's draft, but he hasn't shown enough to make anyone feel like he could develop into the face of the franchise.

Maybe the Falcons want to take a "wait and see approach" before they disregard Ridder as the answer at quarterback but if general manager Terry Fontenot wants to speed up the rebuild, he should strongly consider going after Jackson.

Atlanta currently holds the eighth overall pick in the draft and there's a chance all the top quarterback prospects will be gone by then. If that case, the Falcons could easily give the Ravens their first-round pick this year and the one in 2024 to land Jackson. The downside of trading for Jackson is that they would need to give him a new deal but if that's the price to land a franchise quarterback, Fontenot should get on the phone with Baltimore.
