This insane AFC news could really help the Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be one of the best teams in the AFC this season. They have a lot of stiff competition as the AFC is significantly better than the AFC right now.
However, the AFC South is one of the weaker divisions in the league as a whole. That means the Jaguars can really take advantage of it as the years go on.
Right now, however, one of the other nondivisional powerhouses in the conference has taken a massive injury hit. Of course, this is unfortunate news. It would be nice to see the Jaguars win with everyone at full strength.
However, Joe Burrow being injured for the Cincinnati Bengals could open the door for the Jaguars to be a higher seed in the AFC. Even if he isn’t out for very long, a few weeks could be the difference in this crazy conference.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are a good team but the conference is elite.
The Bengals are a very good team and can win without Burrow but it will naturally be tougher. It is something that is extremely unfortunate but the Jaguars need to win their games in the meantime so they can try and get ahead of them.
The early reports of the non-contact injury that Burrow has sustained tell us that he is going to miss a couple of weeks with a calf strain.
"A couple of weeks" could mean anything. It is fair to hope that he returns to the season as soon as possible. He is the only hope that the Bengals have which makes sense considering he is their franchise quarterback.
It isn't until December that the Jaguars have the Bengals at home so unless he gets hurt again, you can assume that he is back long before then.
If he misses some regular season games early though, that is where the Jaguars can gain on them in the overall NFL standings. We will see what happens.
To be honest, the Bengals are one of the top five threats in the league if Burrow is healthy. They are right there with the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Buffalo Bills.
At the end of the day, we can only hope that the Jaguars are ahead of them no matter who is healthy but this is significant news with more to follow.
