3. AFC South power ranking in Week 5: Indianapolis Colts (2-2)

The Indianapolis Colts made lots of headlines in the offseason and not for the right reasons. Between Jim Irsay's shenanigans and running back Jonathan Taylor's contract dispute, it looked like Indy was going to be in a state of disarray in 2023. However, head coach Shane Steichen has somehow managed to keep the team afloat. And that is worthy of praise when you take into account that he was handed a less-than-ideal roster when it comes to talent.

On top of that, Indianapolis' two losses have been competitive. In the opener, they gave the Jags everything they had and were in control of the game until the fourth quarter. The same is true for their defeat to the Los Angeles Rams. They lost by a mere six points and the bout might've had a different outcome if a couple plays here and there had gone their way.

Next on Indy's schedule are the Titans and if they can keep the offense in check, they should come out of the bout with a win. The Colts defense is not nearly as dominant as Tennessee's but they've shown the ability to prevent points from moving the back.

Add the potential return of Jonathan Taylor, who started the season on short Injured Reserve, and Indianapolis should have a realistic shot at handing the Titans their third loss of the season.

Are Colts a playoff contender? Not really but they've surely been better than anticipated.
