1. AFC South rankings post 2023 NFL Free Agency: Jacksonville Jaguars

. 52. . . 1. . AFC South Rankings.

The Jacksonville Jaguars' spot in this ranking shouldn't come as a surprise despite a somewhat quiet free agency. Although it took general manager Trent Baalke to start signing players from other squads, the Jags had been busy trying to keep their own. They couldn't retain them all though.

Right tackle Jawaan Taylor and defensive end Arden Key left in free agency. However, the Jaguars are in a position to overcome both losses. Walker Little can step in at right tackle or the team's brass could take an offensive lineman early in the 2023 NFL Draft. In the same manner, Key was an important piece in the pass rush rotation last season but Jacksonville should be able to replace his production.

Even though the Calvin Ridley trade wasn't technically made in free agency he was reinstated in March so he gets an honorable mention. His arrival gives the Jags yet another weapon. They let Marvin Jones Jr. walk in free agency but Ridley represents an upgrade and there's a strong chance Jacksonville will have a top 5 offense in 2023.

Moreover, all the signings the Jaguars have made this offseason are low-key good with plenty of upside. D'Ernest Johnson could compete for the No. 2 job behind Travis Etienne while Henry Mondeaux and Michael Dogbe are a couple of defensive linemen with a high ceiling.

The Jaguars still need to address a few roster holes but their dearth of activity in free agency should not be interpreted as a lack of a plan. They're simply doing the best they can with the limited amount of cap space they have at their disposal. Either way, they're in a favorable position to repeat as AFC South champions next season.
