5 worst Jaguars draft picks of the GM Trent Baalke era
No. 1 Jaguars worst pick of the Trent Baalke era: Snoop Conner, RB
You know you have done a pretty good job in the draft when most of your misses are on Day 3. Then again, Trent Baalke's led the Jaguars' front office for less than three years, so maybe it's not a good idea to crown him just yet. Do you remember he got off to a strong start with the San Francisco 49ers but his hits became fewer and farther between later in his stint?
So far, Baalke's made the most of his chance of the Jaguars. Also, he hasn't had any disputes and seems to have a great rapport with head coach Doug Pederson, so it's hard to see things finishing as badly as they got in the Bay Area.
For the time being, Baalke's biggest miss is running back Snoop Conner, who seemed poised to be RB3 on the depth chart last year but was a healthy scratch for most of his rookie campaign. Had Jacksonville not traded James Robinson to the New York Jets, it's possible that Conner wouldn't have gotten any playing time at all. In the end, the former Ole Miss Rebel toted the rock 12 times for 42 yards and one touchdown.
You could make the case that Conner was making the transition to the pros and could make strides in Year 2. However, the Jaguars added rookie Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson. This doesn't bode well for Conner, who might end up being a victim of the numbers game unless he stands out in training camp.
