No. 4 player definitely entering his lat year with the Jaguars: Tre Herndon, CB

Make no mistake, cornerback Tre Herndon deserves lots of praise for joining the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and working his way up the depth chart. Over the last five years, he's played 67 games with 30 starts and the fact that he can line up inside and outside has made him a valuable member of the Jacksonville secondary.

Having said that, Herndon's time in Jacksonville might be coming to an end even though he could open the season in the slot.

See, Herndon is a good reserve but asking him to perform well in a featured role might be too much to ask. Last year, he gave up 14.8 yards per reception and allowed a 71.1 percent completion rate when quarterbacks targeted him.

Given that Herndon returned on a one-year deal, it's possible that expects one of their young corners (Kaleb Hayes, Christian Braswell, Antonio Johnson) to challenge him for the nickel job but if they need time to develop, he can remain in the slot for as long as necessary. However, if any of them stands out in training camp, Herndon could then be relegated to the bench.
