Nobody batted an eye when the Jacksonville Jaguars opted to mostly skip free agency. After all, they managed to keep most of their core from last year intact, so they weren't in need of making splash additions. On the other hand, it was a bit surprising to see them make 13 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft..

Even though some Jaguars' draftees won't be able to stick around, a handful of them should make the team and go on to become important contributors as the season progresses. With that said, this influx of youth could in turn make these five players expendable next year.

No. 5 player definitely entering his last year with the Jaguars: Shaquille Quarterman, LB

Linebacker seems to be a strength for the Jaguars in 2023. Besides signing Foyesade Oluokun last year, they used a couple of draft picks in Devin Lloyd and Chad Muma. But because the team's brass couldn't pass up the chance, they also took Ventrell Miller in Round 4 of this year's draft.

Given the depth at the position, there's a good chance Shaquille Quarterman is entering his last season with the Black and Teal.

A four-round pick in the 2020 draft, Quarterman has appeared in 46 games for the Jags and he's become a core contributor on special teams. However, he could become a victim of the numbers game with Lloyd and Muma expected to compete for the job next to Oluokun in 2023.

Whoever loses the battle will become LB3 on the depth and with Ventrell in the mix, it's hard to see Jacksonville keeping five off-linebackers next season, so there's a good chance this will be Quarterman's last season in Jacksonville.
