Brandon Scherff could be entering his last season with the Jaguars

Early in the offseason and even dating back to last year, Brandon Scherff seemed like a potential cap casualty. The former Iowa Hawkeye signed a top-market deal in 2022 but his performance over the past two seasons wasn't proportional to the amount of money the Jags have forked out of him.

In his defense, Scherff managed to start every single game the last two years, a feat he hadn't achieved since 2016. On top of that, he did it despite playing through injuries. The Jags seemed to notice it and instead of releasing him and freeing up $9 million in space, they restructured his deal, ensuring he stayed next season.

However, Scheff will become a free agent in 2025 and he'll be 33 then. The Jags won't probably want to pass the chance to get younger at the position.

Tyson Campbell could be entering his last season with the Jaguars

As recently as 2022, Tyson Campbell was in the conversation about the top 10 cornerbacks in the league. Heck, he was mentioned as one of the 101 most important players in the whole league, but instead of building off of his sophomore success, he battled injuries in 2023.

Campbell is arguably the Jags' best defensive player in 2022, registering three interceptions and 15 passes defensed. However, a hamstring injury hindered his performance last year. He should be back at full strength next season but that won't be the only obstacle he'll be facing. He'll also need to make the switch to man coverage in defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen's scheme. He might have a hard time given that he's a better fit to play zone.

But even if Campbell thrives in Campbell's scheme, there's no guarantee he'll return in 2025. Never say never, but right now, his odds of getting an extension don't look great. Then again, this will need to be revisited in a few months, especially if he joins the top-10 discussion once again.
