The Jaguars could trade away K Riley Patterson

If it's happened once, it can happen twice. That's something kicker Riley Patterson should keep in mind. Back in 2022, the Jaguars made several attempts to bring stability at kicker but didn't have much luck. Just before the regular season, they finally got it right by claiming Patterson off waivers. For the most part, he did a commendable job and even nailed the game-winning field goal against the Los Angeles Chargers in Super Wild Card Weekend.

However, the Jags weren't fully sold on the former Memphis Tiger, so they signed Brandon McManus last offseason. Not long after, they traded Patterson to the Detroit Lions, the team that had previously waived him.

In the end, though, McManus wasn't that much of an upgrade and Jacksonville let him walk in the offseason. They also re-signed Patterson in January, but it doesn't look like they expect him to be the long-term answer.

Otherwise, Jacksonville wouldn't have tried to lure Wil Lutz and successfully signed Joey Slye. Moreover, the front office used a fifth-round pick on Cam Little in this year's draft. Already, the rookie kicker has flashed his talent, and if he builds momentum ahead of the regular season, the Jags won't hesitate to move on from Patterson... again.

The Jaguars could trade LT Cam Robinson away

Left tackle Cam Robinson has been the subject of trade chatter since the end of the 2023 season. One big reason is that the suspension he served last year for violations to the NFL's Performance-Enhancing Drug Policy voided the guarantees on his deal. This means that Jacksonville could either trade or release him and free up $17 million in space without incurring penalties.

However, the team's brass says they expect Robinson to be on the roster next season. Maybe they didn't get an offer they liked, or perhaps they believe he's their best option to protect Trevor Lawrence's blindside. Either way. It only takes one team that suffers an injury at left tackle to see his value go up.

Make no mistake, the Jaguars appear to be comfortable going into the season with Robinson as their left tackle. But they probably won't be opposed to the possibility of creating a massive amount of space while getting one of two draft picks.
