With free agency and the 2024 draft in the books, things will start to slow down for NFL teams. With rosters mostly set for training camp, coaching staffs will focus on evaluating their current collection talent. In the case of the Jacksonville Jaguars, they're in much better shape after making upgrades across the board in the offseason.

In fact, the Jags have done a good job of retooling the roster in recent years. The downside is that they had to move on from several players along the way. Surprisingly, these five remain unsigned after the draft.

Former Jaguars CB Tre Herndon remains surprisingly unsigned

An undrafted free agent in 2018, it didn't take Tre Herndon long to work his way up the depth chart. By his second season, he had earned a featured role in the Jaguars' secondary. While injuries hurt the unit's overall performance, Herndon was able to hold his own.

Fast forward to 2021 and the Jaguars envisioned the Vanderbilt product manning the slot. However, an MCL injury forced him to miss games and vastly hindered his performance most of the season. Still, the team's brass thought highly enough of him that they re-signed him in 2022. Herndon filled in for Shaquill Griffin in the boundaries and later moved to the slot. Overall, he did a fine job, which is why Jacksonville brought him back again last year.

Once again, injuries pressed Herndon into action in 2023, but the season ended and the Jags chose to let him walk in free agency. You would think that his versatility to line up inside and outside would appeal to NFL clubs but that hasn't been the case.

There's a chance the Jags will re-sign Herndon if injuries strike in training camp or neither of their rookie cornerbacks show out. That said, it's a bit surprising to see that he remains available.
