Devin Lloyd is poised to break out for the Jaguars in 2024

Linebacker Devin Lloyd was the second of two players the Jaguars took in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Right out of the gate, he secured a spot in the starting lineup next to Foyesade Oluokun. The decision paid off, as the former Utah Ute went on to register two interceptions and six passes defensed in his first three games.

Unfortunately, Lloyd faded as the year progressed and was eventually benched in favor of fellow rookie Chad Muma. He got his job back and entered the 2023 season as the unquestioned starter. He certainly showed an improvement at tackling and pass coverage. However, the California native didn't make nearly as many big plays as he did as a rookie.

Lloyd, though, is focused on being the best player he can be in Year 3. He showed up to offseason activities in great shape, the best he's been in Jacksonville. That should be a sign of things to come in 2024.

Travon Walker is poised to break out for the Jaguars in 2024

Travon Walker, like Devin Lloyd, was a first-round pick by Jacksonville in 2022. However, he began his NFL career with bigger expectations by virtue of being the first overall selection. All things considered, he had an unremarkable rookie campaign, registering just 4.5 sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble.

By comparison, defensive end Aidan Hutchinson had an immediate impact with the Detroit Lions, tallying 9.5 sacks, and three interceptions in 2022. However, Walker narrowed down the gap between the two last year, logging 10.0 sacks.

The former Georgia Bulldog should keep getting better in Year 3. Not only should he benefit from the arrival of defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen but the addition of Arik Armstead to the front four should help Walker find more favorable matchups on the edge.
