The Jacksonville Jaguars failed to make the playoffs last year. One big reason was the team's overall depth of talent and depth. On the bright side, neither should be a concern in 2024, as the front office got to work in the offseason and bolstered most position groups.

On top of that, there are a handful of players who are ready to take the next step. Most of them filled key roles in 2023 but have the tools to be even better next season. These five, in particular, come to mind.

Anton Harrison is poised to break out for the Jaguars in 2024

Rookies must make the transition from college to the pros, but offensive tackle Anton Harrison was also tasked with switching sides at the line of scrimmage. Having mostly played left tackle at Oklahoma, he moved to the right side for the Jags. He struggled early on. Specifically, the Washington D.C. native had a hard time containing All-Pro defensive tackle Chis Jones in Week 2.

However, Harrison got much better as the season progressed, giving up no sacks and a manageable 14 pressures in the last nine games. With a stronger grasp of the position, the former Sooner should be much better in Year 2.

After the end of 2023, Harrison said that he wouldn't mind moving back to left tackle but it doesn't look like it's on the team's plans right now. Moreover, it doesn't much sense for him to switch sides right now. After all, he's already got used to playing on the right edge, and the Jaguars still have Cam Robinson and Walker Little in the mix.

Having said that, don't be surprised if Harrison switches back to left tackle next year. Robinson and Little are slated to become free agents in 2025. If they leave, Harrison becomes the first in line to replace them. For the time being, though, expect the sophomore to show considerable improvement this upcoming season.
